Sanitex needed a centralized MDM platform to address data inaccuracies, duplication and inefficiencies across its 11 subsidiaries and 14 systems — critical for reliable, data-driven decision-making.
It ensures access to accurate, up-to-date data throughout the organization, improving operational efficiency and supporting data-driven decision-making. 6% of Sanitex employees – primarily decision makers – use the solution daily as the main data source for planning and decision-making.

Sanitex is the largest wholesale, distribution, and logistics company in the Baltic States. Established in 1992, the group has over 30 years of experience distributing globally known brands.
The company collaborates with more than 500 producers and directly serves more than 35,000 customers in Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia, offering them a wide assortment of products (more than 43,000 product names), professional services and business solutions.
Sanitex partnered with Helmes to drive digital transformation: streamlining processes and accelerating growth with the help of technology. Embracing a collaborative and agile approach, we have delivered several business-critical systems for the group, most recently a master data management system tailored to the group’s needs.

The challenge: Too many data sources and missing data integration
The solution typically involves creating a master data management (MDM) system and golden data records.
Master data refers to the core data entities shared by different business units – typically information on customers, products, and suppliers – that are critical for daily operations and decision-making.
A golden data record is the single, authoritative source of master data that is consolidated, cleansed, and enriched from various sources. Establishing such a single source of truth typically requires creating a centralized master data management system.
Without an effective master data system and golden data records, businesses face numerous challenges, including data inconsistencies, duplication, errors, and inefficiencies that can result in significant operational and financial risks.
Inaccurate data can also lead to poor decision-making, customer dissatisfaction, regulatory non-compliance, and reputational damage.
Sanitex recognized the need to implement an efficient master data management solution to overcome these challenges and ensure data quality and reliability. The company turned to Helmes to develop an MDM system covering the needs of its various business segments, entities, and geographical locations.
The solution: A single source of data for the whole organization
We began the project by collecting requirements, conducting analysis, and aligning the client’s vision for the MVP. We mapped different data sources currently used in the company and created a central data management solution.
The custom MDM solution consolidates data from 11 companies across the Baltic region into a unified platform — managing 330,000 client records, 375,000 contacts, 650,000 logistics locations, 100,000 schedules and 4,000 employee records — enabling 6% of users (primarily decision-makers) to rely on it daily as their single source of truth.
